A FOCUS ON FASCIA TO NATURALLY HEAL & MANAGE PAIN
The concept is simple: a body that works efficiently within the field of gravity does not experience excessive strain or stress in any one area. Forces distribute themselves evenly through a balanced structure. And, within this dynamic balance, by its every movement, the optimized body can and does bring healing to itself.
Efficiency means mechanical and energetic advantage.
The mechanical and energetic layers of the body are one and the same: the fascial, or connective tissue, layer.
It weaves in and amongst every cell, gives us recognizable form and structure, secures all of our physiological systems together into a dynamic, infinitely complex functional unit.
It pulls on muscles & bones to move us around.
It relays communiqués to and from our nervous system; it can gift us with a sense of security and ease, or torment us with stress and tension.
Fascia is powerful. Once smoothed, toned and restored to full function with intelligent massage therapy, it is powerfully healing.
Fascia optimized, the nervous system shifts smoothly from sympathetic (fight or flight) back to parasympathetic (rest and digest). The right muscles do the right work at the right time–-in balanced sequence, never too much or too little. The joints move freely within their healthy range of motion. The bones support fully. Our ultra-efficient core musculature engages and responds with lightning-fast speed, keeping us present in every moment of our life.
In other words, when the fascia is healthy again, we can feel it.We feel joyful, awakened, relaxed … at home in our bodies, ourselves.
Fascia isn’t yet fully understood, but, as it is literally everywhere in the body, it’s logical that a focus on fascia makes for the best kind for massage therapy.
